23 August 2013 – Israeli Settlement Expansion and Other International Law Violations Threaten Prospects for Peace

Despite the efforts aimed at salvaging the two-State solution and reviving negotiations Israel, the occupying Power, continues its illegal settlement activities throughout the land of the State of Palestine and continues other provocative and illegal actions that signal yet again Israel’s rejection of the path of peace and its stratagem for occupation, annexation and domination of the Palestinian people. Illegal actions by the Israeli occupying forces and extremist Israeli settlers continue to highlight Israel’s true stance regarding the two-State solution and its infinite attempts to squander it.

Tenth Emergency Special Session

Illegal Israeli actions in occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory

The tenth Emergency Special Session of the General Assembly was convened for the first time in April 1997, following a request from Qatar, Chair of the Arab Group.

The session followed a series of Security Council and General Assembly meetings regarding the Israeli decision to build “Har Homa”, a large illegal Israeli settlement, in the Jabal Abu Ghneim area of Occupied East Jerusalem.

The tenth Emergency Special Session was last resumed on 15 and 16 January 2009 to consider the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, at the request of the President of the General Assembly.
