Excellency,

We write today to reiterate our strong condemnation of Israel, the occupying Power’s, campaign of murder and aggression, in particular its continued practice of extrajudicial killings against Palestinian civilians, particularly youth, held captive under its brutal occupation in the State of Palestine, including East Jerusalem. While Israel’s illegal policy of extrajudicial killings, most carried out execution-style, have been incessant throughout its nearly five-decade-long occupation, this illegal practice has been on rise since October 2015 when the occupying Power stepped up its aggression against the Palestinian people. Such unlawful attacks, which amount to war crimes and indicate an abject disdain for the worth of Palestinian lives, have further ignited an already extremely tense situation on the ground. I regret to inform you that the situation in the Occupied State of Palestine, including East Jerusalem, continues to deteriorate as Israel, the occupying Power, continues with its illegal and provocative practices, which includes its settlement colonization enterprise, which brings with it the element of a racist, radical and violent settler population numbering 650,000, that has been illegally transferred to the occupied territory by the occupying Power and that continues to attack Palestinian civilians with barbarity and with the military protection of Israeli occupying forces.

The occupying Power also persists with all of its other policies and measures that are in violation of international law with complete impunity.  This includes the killing and injuring of innocent Palestinian civilians, among them women and children, as well as collective punishment measures against the entire Palestinian population living under Israel’s military occupation.  Such illegal policies and measures are exacerbating the volatile situation on the ground and heightening tensions between the two sides, with dangerous ramifications. I am compelled to draw your attention to the very unstable situation in Occupied Palestine, including East Jerusalem, due to the ongoing breaches of international law, including humanitarian and human rights law, by Israel, the occupying Power.  The persistence and intensity of such illegal actions seem to leave little doubt that Israel has interpreted the international community’s continued inaction as a signal that it can continue with its illegal occupation and crimes against the Palestinian people without consequence.   [Read more…]

Once again, we are compelled to draw attention to the systematic violations of international law, including humanitarian law and human rights law that are being perpetrated against the Palestinian people by Israel, the occupying Power, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.  The failure of the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to seriously and effectively address these violations to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and end Israel’s impunity and hold it accountable for the crimes of its military occupation has undoubtedly emboldened the occupying Power, as reflected in its intensifying violations and illegal policies that we continue to document and bring before the international community.
